Lesson 20

My Life as an 11 Year Old

My life as an 11 year old is basically doing my schoolwork, playing Minecraft, playing with friends, and helping out with my siblings. I am homeschooled. I finish school work around 11:30 in the morning. Most of the time, when I am not doing school work, I am playing video games. My favorite game to play is Minecraft. I also go outside and play with my friends. During the week, on Wednesdays and Fridays, I usually play with my friends in the neighborhood. On the weekends, I also get together with friends. That is basically my life as an 11 year old.

Lesson 15

What I did This Summer

This summer I played with my friends and played golf. I played with my friends in the neighborhood almost every day. We mostly played at my friend, Luke’s house, friend Tristan’s house, and my best friend’s Ian’s house . When we are playing inside, we would play Minecraft. At Luke’s house, we would do activities in his basement. At Tristan’s house, we sometimes played in his backyard and swam in his pool. We also play in Ian’s backyard too. We played many different games such as tag, like “infection”, and sometimes hide and seek. My friends and I like to ride bikes in the neighborhood. We would ride them to the cul de sac and ride up the hill. It is fun going down but not so much going up. Everyday is a new adventure!

Lesson 10 Essay

My favorite part of the world tour this week was learning about Africa. One reason is because it has many geographical features such as the Nile River, Lake Victoria, safaris and rainforests, deserts, and so many other interesting geographical sights and features. There were also many ancient structures that might still be around today such as The Great Pyramid of Giza, Khami Ruins, Luxor Temple, and more structures that may or may not be around today. We don’t have much knowledge of Ancient African Civilizations probably because no records have been found or because they might have been destroyed by European settlers.

Some ancient people of Africa were Carthaginins, Bantus, Pygmies, and Kalhari Bushmen. There were two civilizations Nibian and the Noks. The Nubian civilization developed in Sudan. The Nok civilization developed in Nigeria. The Nubians traded and interacted with the Egyptians and the Noks were good with iron and terracotta pottery.

Lesson 4 Essay

If I lived in the time of the Tower of Babel and God confused our languages I would want to be in the Semitic Tribe. When we were ready to move I would move to any place the others wanted to go. I would lead my tribe to victory gathering food and materials for shelter. Once we found a spot we would build places to live. We would craft weapons and some defensive items. We would go out hunting and discover new plants, animals, fruits and minerals every new land we search. I would go out and find different minerals to help get stronger weapons. We would build watchtowers to look out for dangerous threats. Every day we would shift who would be on the watch tower so the other can get sleep. I would always be prepared for enemy or animal attacks and soon will craft armor for more defense. We would be victorious.

Lesson 10

Book Report of The Railway
Children

When Father goes away with two strangers one evening, the lives of Roberta, Peter, and Phyllis are shattered. They and their mother have to move from their comfortable London home to go and live in a simple country cottage, where Mother writes books to make ends meat. However, they soon come to love the railway that runs near their cottage, and they make a habit of waving to the Old Gentleman who rides on it. They befriend the porter, named Perks, and through him learn railway lore and much else. They have many adventures, and when they save a train from disaster, they are helped by the Old Gentleman to solve the mystery of their father’s disappearance, it turns out their father has been accused of spying on the British government. So the railway children find out who really did it and their father was free to go, and their family is happily reunited.

I actually enjoyed the book. I usually enjoy Goosebumps books, but I liked this book. One reason is because it was a lot of adventure and I like action and adventure books. My next reason is because it was a mystery of finding who was the real culprit of who actually was spying on the British government and when I was in 3rd or 4th grade I liked mysteries. My final reason is because they had to save a train.

Lesson 5

This is what I think will happen in The Railway Children. First, I think their father will come back. How? Maybe he will take the train and be with his family at the end. Second, I think the children will have more problems such as they might all get lost and can’t find their way back, the train might not work any more, or the train might leave with one or all of the children still on it and can’t get off. Finally, I don’t think they will cooperate. They might have different opinions or plans and they might just argue and want to do their own plans or ideas. That is what I think will happen in The Railway Children.

Lesson 1

I Love Minecraft

I love playing Minecraft and there are so many reasons why I enjoy playing this game. First, it has a lot of exploration and building, using three dimensional blocks. They come in many different materials such as wood, cobblestone, concrete, terracotta, and so many more! Second, there are cool structures that generate infinitely. Some of them generate in a specific biome such as a jungle temple, a desert pyramid, a swamp hut, and a woodland mansion. Some can generate in other different biomes such as villages, pillager outposts, trail ruins, and more in Minecraft. The third reason why I like this game is that there are four game modes. One is survival mode that allows you to survive and fight mobs. Creative mode is when you get limitless blocks, fly, and can’t take damage. Adventure mode is similar to survival but you can’t break blocks. Spectator mode allows you to go through walls and spectate. The final reason is that the world is 30,000,000 blocks wide in every direction and there are so many mobs, which are entities. In Minecraft there are three dimensions: the overworld, our home, the Nether, a fiery red lava dark dimension, and the end, where the final fight is and is basically space. That is just a little bit about Minecraft. There are still so many more interesting features of this game that I like. Play Minecraft and have fun!

Lesson 8

My Rock Report (Obsidian)

Visually analyzed image

Obsidian is an igneous rock formed by the rapid cooling of lava from volcanoes. Its formula is SiO2 + MgO, Fe3O4. Its colors can be mahogany, red, flame, midnight lace, jet black, pumpkin orange, brown, rainbow, gold sheen, silver sheen, green, lizard skin, snowflake and more. There is a very rare occurrence of obsidian being the color blue, orange, red, or yellow. The appearance of these colors is because of the presence of different trace elements in obsidian rocks. It is in the volcanic glass category. Obsidian is relatively soft with a hardness of 5 to 5.5 on the mineral hardness scale and its specific gravity is about 2.4.. Obsidian is found in many volcanic regions such as, Mountain West, Southwest, California, Oregon, and Washington State. In ancient times, obsidian was used for cutting tools and weapons, like blades and arrowheads. Well-crafted obsidian blades were the strongest blades in the world. Today, obsidian is used as a gem or an ornament stone. Obsidian is produced from felsic lava and lighter elements such as silicon, oxygen, aluminium, sodium, and potassium. Obsidian cools very quickly. Obsidian was first discovered 9,000 years ago in Mesopotamia. The word obsidian essentially means “Stone of Obsius”. Obsius was the guy who first found this type of stone in Ethiopia.

Lesson 3

Quartz, Gold, and Magnetite

Three minerals I learned and they were gold, magnetite, and quartz. First is quartz and its silicon oxygen formula known as SiO2. Quartz comes in all sorts of colors such as being clear, purple, rose, red, black, yellow, brown, green, blue, orange, and so many more. Quartz hardness scale is around 7 to 7.5. Quartz has a specific gravity of about 2.65 to 2.66. Specific gravity is the ratio of the weight of a rock to the mass of water. Quartz crystal system is the trigonal system.

The second mineral I learned about was gold. Its astronomical unit formula is Au on the periodic table. The colors can be yellow, yellow silver, or blue green. Its lustre is metallic. Lustre is a word that refers to a glow of reflected light, specifically the appearance of the surface of a mineral. Its hardness is 2 ½–3. Its specific gravity is around 15  to 19.3. Its crystal system is the isometric system. Gold is a member of the copper group.

Finally, I learned about magnetite and its magnetic oxide formula is Fe3O4. Its color ranges from a grayish black to iron black. Its lustre is metallic or sub metallic. Its hardness is 5 ½ to 6 ½. Its specific gravity is 5.175. Like gold, its crystal system is also an isometric system. Magnetite is a member of the oxyspinel group.

Lesson 180 Essay

Two of my favorite inventions I learned about this year were the video game console and the ice cream maker. My first favorite was the video game console. One reason is because I really like playing video games. Another reason is because I can play all different kinds of games such as the Legend of Zelda, Minecraft, and Super Mario. My third reason is because It is really good to play when you are bored. My Last reason is because it is so entertaining and I have fun while playing it. My Second favorite is the ice cream maker. One reason is because I really like eating ice cream.
